Gran Fondo
Gran Fondo is a popular timed cycling event stemming from Italy. It can have 500 to 10,000 participants, covers at least 100 miles and goes over challenging terrain. In France and the UK they are known as cyclosportives. The biggest and most popular Gran Fondos are Nove Colli and Dolomiti, while La Marmotte is France's cyclosport classic covering the cols Croix de Fer, Galibier and L'Alpe d'Huez.
Be ready for Gran Fondo New York to challenge you. We have a hilly course that starts in New York, passes through rural roads, up to Bear Mountain in Harriman State Park and brings you back to where you started. The ride up Bear Mountain and three more challenging climbs will be timed. There will be aid stations along the way to provide you with food and drink, and a great post-race party when it's all done.
Registration for Gran Fondo New York opens Fall 2010.
